Poker Legend Daniel Negreanu Grabs Bracelet #4

By ok-poker - Posted on 13 June 2008

Daniel Negreanu entered the World Series of Poker Event 20 final table with the third largest chip stack. While it took 19 hours of Day Two play to reach the final table, it only took a little over five hours for 'Kid Poker' to capture his fourth career bracelet.

Daniel NegreanuDavid Baker entered the final table as the big stack, and held on to that title for the better part of the day. By the time Baker, Negreanu and Ugur Maragoz were three-handed, Baker was in charge of more than half the chips in play. That would quickly change. A run by Negreanu would turn the tables. Soon enough, Negreanu was rivering a queen-high straight to eliminate Baker and get to heads up play.

Early in heads-up, Negreanu limped in and saw a cheap flop after Marangoz, the Mirage poker room manager, checked. The 5dKh5s flop earned a couple checks. The Qh turn did as well. Marangoz would bet the 3h river and Negreanu would raise. Marangoz would have to commit the rest of his chips to call, and he did.

Negreanu showed 5h9s for trip fives, enough to take the pot and the title.

Daniel Negreanu has won $204,874 and career bracelet #4.
